Perumda Pasar Jaya ensured staple food commodities in Jakarta are safe thus people don't need to shop excessively.

Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin also made sure that 153 markets under Pasar Jaya are open as usual. This statement was also done to deny the issue about Tanah Abang Market that was closed due to COVID-19 outbreak.
"Please don't be panic. We open all traditional market in Jakarta, all food supplies are safe," he asserted, Friday (3/20).

"Operational in all markets in Jakarta are running normally. But we limit customer who enter the market. We also spray disinfectant thus customers can shop in comfort," he explained.
He admitted, there is disruption on several food supplies, especially sugar. But his team held an inspection to Lampung and found out 33 thousand tons of sugar will enter Jakarta soon.
"Sugar price at Rp 16,468. But after Kabareskrim held inspection from Lampung, they informed that around 33 tons of local sugar will arrive soon," he mentioned.
According to him, increase on food price are inseparable from law of increased supply-demand. As long as supply-demand is not disrupted, then food prices will be also stable.
He ensured no speculator during COVID-19 outbreak because food unit will act immediately.
He also mentioned, there are quite a lot of spices supplies that will enter Jakarta due to high demand. Those spices are believed to inhibit transmission of covid-19, such as ginger and others.
"Besides, normal price for eggs at Rp 26 thousand per kg. There was no significant increase in this commodity for the past 3-4 years, including in Ramadan Month," he closed.
